Residents 'saddened' as student dies falling from roof in Nottingham

Residents have described an incident where a Nottingham Trent University student died after falling from a roof as "very, very sad" and "tragic".

Nottinghamshire Police says officers were called out to Tennyson Street, Radford, at around 1.35am on December 6 to reports of two men falling from a roof.

The 24-year-old student, who is yet to be formally identified, died the following day.

Another 21-year-old man, who was also involved in the fall, sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Residents and students in the area said they were shocked at the news.

Farzana Ali, who recently moved into her property in Tennyson Street just three months ago, said: "One week ago I heard someone shouting and the ambulance and police came.

"But I didn't know what had happened. It makes me feel uncomfortable. It is very, very sad to hear about that."

Caitlin Rore, a student at Nottingham Trent University who lives in the area, said the incident had shocked her.

She added: "We had not heard anything about it up until last night.

"It is not very nice to hear. It is tragic."

Following the incident a Nottingham Trent University spokesperson said: “We are shocked and saddened to hear of the death of one of our students.

"Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.

"We are providing bereavement support to all our students and colleagues who have been affected.”

Nottinghamshire Police said there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the man's death.

The force said it would not be confirming the man's name at this time.
