Residents lost for words at paper's translation costs

The cost of providing translations of a council newspaper in Redbridge, Essex has upset some of the paper's "resident's panel". They argue that the £2,440 fee for each translation of the Redbridge Life is far too high. Dharam Sahdev says: "I could do it for £100." And fellow panel member Wilson Chowdhry adds: "It's quite right that the council should provide services like this, but ... there are websites which translate English into almost every other language for free."
