WITH reduced Anzac Day services and many commemorations being held privately this year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hunter residents again took to the streets to mark the important day.
While there were smaller numbers out to 'light up the dawn' for Anzac Day than last year, those who got out in the crisp morning air were met with a cloud-free sunrise. The moment of private reflection at 6am in remembrance of those who have served the nation saw suburbs dotted with candle lights and was a reminder of just how much our daily lives have changed during this pandemic.

Sunday marked the 106th anniversary of the landings at Gallipoli and also major milestones for all three branches of Australia's armed services.
The RAAF celebrates 100 years of service and the Royal Australian Navy, 110 years since it was granted the 'Royal' title by His Majesty King George V. The Australian Army is recognising the two million Australians who have served, and continue to, under the Rising Sun Badge for the past 120 years.
