People in one part of Wirral were baffled this morning after being kept awake by a "very loud continuous hum".
The constant noise, which reportedly started at around 4am, kept residents awake for hours.
People reported hearing the noise in the Poulton area in Wallasey and took to social media to see if others were also kept awake.

A post was uploading to a Wallasey Facebook group, enquiring: “Very loud continuous hum or beep sound. Can't sleep because of it. In Poulton.”
Many group members responded to say they had heard the noise and had also been kept awake by it.
One woman said: "I was wondering the same thing been going all night."
Another person wrote: "Had me up for hours. Thought I was going mad."
Another woman replied: "Omg yes! Thought I was going insane!"
Some locals made suggestions as to what they believe the noise is that kept the people of Wallasey awake.
One man commented: "It's the dredgers - a boat that sucks the sediment off the sea bed. I live off the prom and her it every night."
Another said: "Probably something on the docks."
The sound, which is described as a "low humming", has been the subject of discussion before, with some referring to it as the "Wirral hum."
Earlier this year, people living in Bebington reported hearing a consistent 'hum' that had gone on "all night" in the Brackenwood area.
Last year, the ECHO also reported on residents in the Bebington area taking to social media to complain about the humming sound.
This followed from complaints made a year earlier in 2019 from those in the Birkenhead area who reported hearing a distracting noise which was keeping people awake.
At that time, the local authority said the noise was being caused by a ship on the docks at Cavendish Wharf.
The spokesman said: “We can confirm that officers from the Council are working with a shipping agency to reduce the noise being created by generators on a ship currently berthed at Cavendish Wharf."
Wirral Council was approached by the ECHO for a comment regarding last night's humming noise.
