Residents in Templeogue and Terenure without water due to burst main

Residents in South Dublin have been left without water due to a burst in their local main.

Premises in Dublin 6W, which includes Templeogue and Terenure have been stuck without water since the early hours of this morning.

Irish Water is currently working on the burst main, and have said that they expect to finish the work by 5pm this evening.

But they have warned that it may take several hours for supply for return to all affected properties once work is completed.

Local group I Love Terenure has said that the issue has been there since around 5am this morning.

They said: "The valves have been switched off so there will be no water in the greater Templeogue /Terenure area for a while.

"Their plan is to open up different valves in the area to try and "backfill the system but we don’t have a time frame for this as they are only digging up the burst main now. Leaking since 5am."

Water safety tips

Irish Water said: "Repairs to a burst water main may cause supply disruptions to Templeogue, Terenure and surrounding areas in Dublin 6W.

"Works now have an estimated completion time of 5pm on 3 June. Supply may take 2-3 hours to fully return to all affected properties."
