Residents in Perth complain of brown water

Some Perth residents found discoloured water running from their household taps yesterday.

There were reports of discoloured water in the North Muirton area of the city yesterday.

Householders living in Bute Drive, May Place and Lewis Place were among those affected.

Scottish Water said drinking the discoloured water was not harmful, but added they are investigating the issue.

An operative from the utility company was looking into it when the PA contacted Scottish Water yesterday.

A spokesperson for Scottish Water said: “We are aware of reports of discoloured water in the PH1 area of Perth and have an operative investigating the issue.

“In most cases discoloured water is not harmful and can be cleared by running the kitchen tap at a trickle until it clears.

“Customers can find further information on our website.

“We would like to apologise to customers affected and thank them for their patience as we work to resolve the issue as soon as possible.”
