A residential home in Nottingham which provides accommodation for the elderly and those with dementia has confirmed an outbreak of the covid-19 virus.
The Cherry Trees Resource Centre in the Bestwood Park Estate, on Chippenham Road, said five residents have tested positive for the virus.
It is operated by Nottingham City Council and provides supported residential living for up to 45 people, and the latest Care Quality Commission (CQC) report deemed it 'outstanding'.
A spokeswoman for Nottingham City Council said: "We can confirm that five residents at the Cherry Trees residential home have tested positive for Covid-19.
"All are receiving appropriate treatment and the home remains in isolation at this time for the safety of our residents and carers.
"We would like to reassure relatives and the wider public that all of the correct safety procedures are being followed to prevent further spread of the virus."
On Monday, it was confirmed nine residents staying at the Wren Hall nursing home in Selston had died after contracting coronavirus.
The manager had called for testing to be made readily available, of which the Government has now pledged to do going forward.
The death toll in Nottingham's hospitals now stands at 117.
In Nottinghamshire, the current number of confirmed cases has reached 678, while there are a further 330 in Nottingham.
Currently, local authority figures are not readily available for the number of covid-19-related deaths outside of hospital due to a data processing issue from the Office for National Statistics.
It is believed the data will be released later this week.
