Residents had to be evacuated from a tenement in Cessnock due to a fire last night - which also saw a man being arrested in connection with the incident.
Four fire engines raced to the scene on Middleton Street after the alarm was raised around 10:50pm. Thankfully, there were no reported casualties.
It came just a few hours after police were called to reports of an altercation between two men, one of whom, a 28-year-old, was injured but did not require medical treatment.
Police have confirmed that a 52-year-old man, who will be the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal concerning the altercation, has been arrested and charged in connection with the fire.
He is due before Glasgow Sheriff Court tomorrow.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 8.30pm on Wednesday 12 August 2020, police were called to a report of an altercation involving two men in Middleton Street, Glasgow.
"Emergency services attended and found a 28 year old man injured. He did not require medical treatment and a 52 year old man will be the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal.
"Around 10.55pm on Wednesday 12 August 2020, police were called to a report of a fire at a flat in Middleton Street.
"Emergency services attended and a number of residents were evacuated from the building. A 52 year old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He is due before Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday 14 August 2020 and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: "We were alerted at 10.52pm on Wednesday, August 12 to reports of a fire in a flat on Middleton Street, Cessnock, Glasgow.
"Operations Control mobilised four appliances to the scene to extinguish the fire. "There were no reported casualties. Firefighters left after making the area safe."
