Residents in Dublin told 'don't be alarmed' by low-flying plane going back and forth

Some residents in Dublin have been assured not to be alarmed by a low-flying plane going back and forth on Monday afternoon.

A small aircraft, a Cessna T.310-R, has been over and back about 1,500 feet above Dublin today catching the notice of many.

One residents group even reassured people not to worry about the plane as it is only mapping.

The Drimnagh Residents Association was responding after many people questioned why the flight was so low.

And the small aircraft is doing aerial surveys of the city and has been frequenting the area in recent weeks.

The plane is registered to Dutch company Slagboom & Peeters Aerial Photography who do such surveys all over Europe.

They are a private company who have previously undertaken various projects in Ireland.

This isn't the first time in the last month that a low-flying plane over Ireland has attracted attention.

Leitrim, Fermanagh and Cavan people had been seeing a small aircraft zip across their clear skies little over a week ago.

The Vulcanair P68C came from East Midlands Airport and flew about 7,500 feet above the north-west of the country.

Dublin Airport assured anyone confused that the plane was not doing any harm and is simply mapping.

A spokesperson for the airport said: "Irish skies remain almost devoid of aircraft due to the ongoing impact of Covid-19 on aviation. Fine day for a mapping flight over Leitrim, Cavan & Fermanagh though."
