Residents horrified by vandalism outside local pub in Swords

Residents of a north Dublin town were left horrified when they woke up to find rubbish strewn outside their local pub after bins appeared to have been set on fire.

The incident took place outside The Manor Inn in Swords in the early hours of this morning.

Gardai and Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene at around 2am this morning.

Disgusted residents shared pictures of the aftermath on a local Facebook group this morning.

One resident said: "That is shocking and disgusting!

"Makes our area look very bad and brings the whole community down...who in the right mind would even think of doing such things."

Another added: "Disgusting cant understand the mentality."

A garda spokeswoman told Dublin Live they were investigating the incident.

She said: "Gardaí were called to an incident outside a premises  in the Swords Manor area of Swords, this morning Friday 14 June 2019 at approximately 2am.

"A MPV was discovered on fire. No injuries occurred and it is unknown if the fire was (set) accidentally at this stage. The investigation is ongoing."
