Residents' fears over youth disorder in Bonnyrigg sparks extra police patrols

Police will be conducting extra patrols in parts of Bonnyrigg after residents voiced concerns about youth disorder in the town.

Officers say they have been targeting "anti-social behaviour hotspots" following an increased number of reports from those living nearby.

This comes in the week police arrested a teenager near to King George V Park for being found in possession of a weapon and a controlled substance.

The 16-year-old was held in custody to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

Police add they will "continue to provide an increased presence in the Bonnyrigg area".

A number of people welcomed the move on social media with one person highlighting the large number of "unruly kids in the town".

Another person posted about problems with fighting and cars being vandalised on Dobbies Road.
