Eight residents had to be evacuated from their property in the early hours of this morning (Monday, August 24) following a fire.
Officers on patrol came across a fire in a wooded area behind residential properties in Canning Circus.
Police Sergeant Chris Johnson is leading the investigation.
He said: "Officers saw the fire whilst out on patrol just before 1am on Monday morning in Canning Chambers.
"It's believed building materials in the driveway was set alight. Thankfully, there were no injuries.
"Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the fire, with a number of people having to leave their homes. We will continue to work with the local fire service as part of our investigations.
"We are now appealing to anyone who saw anything suspicious, as we believe the fire may have been started deliberately. We ask anyone with any information to call 101, quoting incident number 23 of 24 August 2020."
