Three teenagers from NSW allegedly set a Giralang home on fire leaving two women with minor injuries.
This was not the first time the home had been targeted, with police investigating previous alleged arson attacks and any possible links.
Tuakihekofe Manapuna, 18, from Lethbridge Park, briefly faced the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday, July 27, when he did not apply for bail.
The two other teenagers, aged 17, faced the ACT Childrens Court the same day. They cannot be named due to their age.
At 11.10am on Friday, July 24, police and emergency services were called to a house fire at Gidjili Place, Giralang.
Police officers spoke to the two female residents of the home, who alleged two men entered the house with jerry cans of fuel and poured fuel throughout before setting it alight.
The women fled the home with minor injuries.
Officers and police intelligence staff established, through witness reports and CCTV, that the two people who allegedly lit the fire fled in a silver Audi sedan driven by a third person.
The Audi was traced to the Federal and Hume Highways, where, with the help of NSW Police, it was stopped.
Inside the vehicle, police allegedly discovered fuel-soaked clothing that matched clothing worn by the alleged arsonists, lighters and face coverings.
The three teenagers were then arrested and extradited from NSW to Canberra.
Manapuna and the two 17-year-old boys are yet to enter pleas to arson and throwing an inflammable substance in an act endangering life.
Police are continuing investigations with additional or upgraded charges possible.
