Residents 'completely unaware' as cannabis haul found in quiet street in The Meadows

Residents have spoken out after police raided a home in The Meadows and found cannabis plants.

Officers seized more than 100 plants and helped make a serious fire hazard safe after they raided the flat in Muskham Street on Thursday August 26.

They found the electricity had been bypassed and a fuse box had melted when they arrived at the property.

The flat was empty of any suspects and no arrest were made.

John Webb, 42, a resident on the street, saw police vans but didn't know what was happening.

He said: "I saw police officers and vans but was unsure what was going on.

"This is a pretty good area, it's quiet.

"It's a crazy thing to think about and is quite scary.

"I was completely unaware of any of it."

Another resident, Ash Lang, 54, who lives near the road thought it wasn't unusual.

He said: "Police come all the time, it's quite a weird area.

"I've lived here for two years but I've had no problems.

"The electric wires look insane, it's strange that no-one really knows about it."

Concerned resident of Wilford Crescent East who wished to remain anonymous, was shocked when she found out about the incident.

She said: "I've never had any problems and everybody I've met is really nice.

"It's a quiet area and I didn't know any of this had happened.

"Most of the time it isn't bad, I can't believe that was just down the road."
