Police were called out to deal with an illegal rave in Nottinghamshire in the early hours of Sunday.
They said they were responding to reports of a "large-scale gathering and concerns over loud music" at the former Bevercotes Colliery site near Ollerton and Tuxford.
After arriving at 1.45am, police said they were "asking members of the public to stay out of the area" and were "working to bring the rave to a conclusion".
A police spokesman added: “Nottinghamshire Police were called at just before 1.45am on Sunday 15 September to a report of a large-scale gathering and concerns over loud music at a disused colliery site in the Bevercotes area.
“Officers attended and spoke to those involved. No arrests have been made in connection with the event.”
It is not the first time there have been raves held at the site of the former colliery, which closed in 1993.
There have also been incidents in July this year, in August last year - when between around 200 and 400 people turned up - and going back as far as 2012.
And residents have been split over whether the events cause a nuisance or not.
"Oh come on, it was barely audible in Elkesley," said Clare on Facebook. "We normally get it nice and loud but last night even with my windows open I strained to hear it. They were bothering no one but the hard nosed killjoys who reported them simply because they dislike anyone having fun unsanctioned by them."
"Let them have some bloody fun!" said Julie. "Get some action taken against crime not people who just want to dance! These people are usually happy people just wanting a bit of a party not wanting to cause bother! Ravers usually choose a site to cause minimal upset."
And Kathryn added: "They are dancing to music in the middle of nowhere not robbing things or places!"
But Amanda said it was "loud noise that others may not want to be assaulted by".
And Patricia added: "That explains the noise this morning while I was trying to sleep after a night shift."
