Residential burglaries reported in Washington Park: police

Chicago police are warning residents to keep their doors and windows locked after a string of residential burglaries were reported in August and September in Washington Park on the South Side.

In each incident the burglar was able to break into apartments or residences through the back door or window and removed property from therein, Chicago police said in a community alert.

These burglaries happened:

  • Aug. 23 and 24 in the 300 block of East 56th Street;
  • Aug. 30 in the 5100 block of South Michigan Avenue;
  • Sept. 5 in 100 block of East Garfield Boulevard; and
  • Sept. 10 in the 5300 block of South Michigan Avenue.

Police believe that one person is involved.
