Resident Evil 4 and Dragon's Dogma lead's stylish new action RPG gets an October release date, steering clear of the GTA 6 rush

Stupid Never Dies has had its release date confirmed, with the Dragon's Dogma and Devil May Cry veterans' new action RPG releasing on October 21, 2026.

As GamesRadar+'s resident Devil May Cry and Dragon's Dogma sicko, it's no big surprise that Stupid Never Dies, the punk rock action game developed by GPTRACK50 – a new studio founded by Capcom veteran Hiroyuki Kobayashi, who served as a producer on Resident Evil 4, Dragon's Dogma, Devil May Cry, and more – is right up there in terms of the games I'm most looking forward to this year. Especially when there's a nice helping of Suda 51 inspiration in there.

Well, thankfully, it's not releasing in the GTA 6-avoiding mosh pit that is September 2026.

This release date was confirmed in a brand new trailer for the game, which features a new character, Phoenix Zaza Hotfeathers, as he dances for about 30 seconds while revealing the October 21, 2026 date… and that's about everything shown. Over on the game's website, Phoenix Zaza Hotfeathers is described as "a cosmic custodian whose allegiances are anyone’s guess" so presumably this rhythmic fella will be a big deal in the full game.

On top of that, the website has also confirmed that Stupid Never Dies will be co-published by Sega worldwide. The game is getting a PS5 physical release, alongside the "Glorious Idiot Edition" which features the "TickTock Teddies: Nonsense Overload Pack" which includes 5 TickTock Teddies. From what I gather, these are modifiers that give you different animations, music, and effects, such as a big head mode.

While the game is releasing on October 21, that'll work out as being October 22 in some regions – be sure to check your storefront so you know exactly when you can get your hands on it.

Capcom expects 95% of its game sales to be digital in the next year, and it's pretty much already there thanks largely to PC gaming.
