Nov. 30--For an additional $10 a day above the standard rates, reserved parking will be available starting Tuesday to travelers using the garages at Chicago's two airports, O'Hare and Midway, city officials said Monday.
The benefit of the new service is that by reserving a parking space online before a trip, travelers can save time by not needing to search for parking, according to the Chicago Department of Aviation.
The reserved areas of the parking garages are closest to the terminals at O'Hare and Midway airports, officials said. The reserved spaces are on level 4 of both the O'Hare parking garage and the main terminal garage at Midway.
But the convenience is pricey. On top of the daily parking fees, parking-reservation customers will pay via a website or on their mobile devices $10 per day plus "all applicable fees and taxes," the city said. The standard parking rates will be charged when drivers exit the garage.
Daily parking in the O'Hare garage is $35 plus taxes and fees on Mondays through Fridays and $34 on Saturdays and Sundays. Pre-purchasing a reserved parking spot would add roughly $10 per day. At Midway, daily parking is $32 seven days a week in the main garage.

The Emanuel administration has said it eventually plans to offer amenities including car washing, detailing and maintenance services for people who park their cars at the airports. City officials also have talked about a "frequent parker program" that would allow people who park often at the airports to earn awards.
