Rescued Spanish street dog Rosie goes missing in Ayr as search is launched for her safe return

A frantic search has been launched for a dog who has gone missing in unfamiliar territory.

Rosie, a 14-month-old Spanish Podenco/Galgo cross, disappeared in Alloway on Boxing Day.

Her desperate owners are now seeking her return, backed by huge public support.

A 'silent search' kicked off in Doonfoot on Thursday morning, as her last steps were retraced.

Owner Jennifer Jones said: "We're following up a number of confirmed sightings in the area.

"By holding a silent search, we are trying not to spook her.

"She is very nervous as she's a rescue Spanish street dog who has only been in the UK for three weeks."

Rosie, who lives with Jennifer in Dundee, had been visiting Ayrshire for the first time as part of a Christmas trip.

It is thought she may be trying to make her way home to Jennifer's parents' house in the area.
