Rescued regulars enjoy purr-fect post-lockdown return to Hamilton local

Hamilton's popular Bar Milano welcomed back two of their regulars this week - a pair of rescue cats!

Theo, one, and Arlo, three, can regularly be seen among customers at the lounge on the town's Carlisle Road.

The pair are owned Darcey Diver and Liam Stephenson, who lives across the road from the bar, and enjoy nothing more than walking their pets up to their favourite pizzeria and bar for a spot of lunch, where Theo and Arlo often also enjoy some chicken from the kitchen.

Owner Darcey told Lanarkshire Live : "When we got Theo and Arlo last year they were extremely timid.

"They would cry when they were near people and had to learn how to trust again, which took a lot of time and effort.

"But having taken them along to the pet friendly Bar Milano, the bar staff were always very accommodating and patient with them in the bar area, letting them just observe the people and get used to them, and even brought them out chicken from the kitchen."

Darcey added: "Arlo, who has learning difficulties, took quite long to learn the concept of playing, but they now are treated like wee kings and look forward to getting out walks to make new pals.

"They are very calm and love cuddles and attention, are always snuggling into people in the beer garden and are honestly just full of love and personality, regardless of the sad past they had."

Theo and Arlo can often be seen being walked on their leashes up to the bar - a sight that brightens the day of many a Hamilton resident.

Darcey said: "Theo and Arlo are often seen outside the pub getting licked by passing dogs!

"And they are so glad to get back over to their pals at Bar Milano after a long lockdown.

"They really are the friendliest cats and the main reason we walk them is because of how much we see them brighten people's day and make them smile.

"They are just our wee best friends and we are so grateful for the staff at Bar Milanos who always let us enjoy a wee pint with them."
