Rescued puppy farm dogs receive toys for the first time in heartwarming Dogs Trust video

An emotional video from Dogs Trust Ireland shows dogs from puppy farms receiving toys for the first time in their lives.

Uploading to their YouTube channel, the charity said: “We thought you would like to see this happy video of the first time these gorgeous dogs ever received a toy.”

The sweet video shows Dogs Trust workers lovingly tossing soft toys and cuddly teddy bears to the rescued dogs, much to the pups’ delight.

The 15 rescued pups can been seen curiously approaching and sniffing their new playthings with happy wagging tails.

“With everything they’ve been through, it was amazing to watch their curious, excited and hopeful reactions to their first ever cuddly toy,” a spokesperson said.

As part of their #EndPuppyFarming campaign the charity have revealed that this year alone, they have rescued over 130 animals from puppy farms across the country.

“Since these dogs came into our care, they have known gentle hands, good food, caring words and teddies for the first time ever, and that is all because of our amazing and loving supporters – we can never thank you enough.

“These frightened little souls lived in absolute misery – their condition when they came to us shocked even our most experienced staff.”

Coming up to Christmas, Dogs Trust has encouraged potential puppy owners not to buy from puppy mills.

A Dogs Trust spokesperson said: “Those who buy (puppy farm) puppies aren’t saving them,

“They are unknowingly creating the demand for them – supporting greedy, unscrupulous breeders who only care about profit.

“These illegal breeders make quick cash from cruelty and neglect as they force mums... to churn out litter after litter in the most brutal of conditions.”

So far, Dogs Trust has garnered over 16,000 signatures on their petition to end puppy farming practises in Ireland.
