Rescued building services firm adds new deal to £4m of contracts

Building services firm McGill has secured a third major contract after winning more than £4 million of work since being saved from administration.

The Dundee firm has been awarded a contract to service and repair warden call equipment in sheltered housing complexes for Fife Council.

It follows a £2.6million contract to refurbish homes for Govanhill Housing Association in Glasgow and a £1.6million contract to fit smoke alarms for Langstane & Castlehill Housing Association in Aberdeen.

McGill entered administration in February with the loss of over 440 jobs after late payment of bills from major clients. It was bought by Catalus Energy Investments, owned by Dundee property developer Graeme Carling.

The firm has since added an Aberdeen office to its existing ones in Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

McGill operations director Chris Ferriday said: “We are delighted to be awarded this contract, and continue to work with our long-standing clients, Fife Council. This contract win demonstrates the strength of our fire & security team and our commitment to rebuilding McGill.

“The past nine months, since McGill was bought out of administration have been some of the most demanding, but also rewarding. We have re-employed the very best people and this contract win is testament to their efforts and expertise."
