Rescue services swarm scary scene as hero boy desperately tries to save woman in water

These were the frightening scenes yesterday as a brave teenager tried to save a woman who got into trouble in the stormy seas.

The brave 17-year-old took to the water in Greystones to help the woman in distress in a heroic effort that was caught on camera.

The boy swam out to the lady with a life buoy while a rescue helicopter came to her aid a short time later.

Thankfully, she received no lasting injuries with a hero hunt now on to find her guardian angel helper.

A local forum said: "Bravo to the brave man who swam out to give a swimmer in distress a life buoy today.

(Greystones Open Forum)

"The lady in distress was rescued by a helicopter, well done lads, so many people owe you so much.

"She wasn't too badly hurt and the helicopter landed on the south beach."

It continued: "The poor woman got such a fright but we're glad everyone is okay.

"Incredible bravery by that 17-year-old who swam out with the life buoy.

"Wow. What heroics. You saved that person's life, well done."
