Rescue pup left fighting for his life after being 'rag-dolled' in savage dog attack

A rescue puppy was left "fighting for his life" in intensive care after a vicious attack by two "out-of-control" dogs.

Bruno, a schnauzer-poodle cross, was ripped from his owner's arms and mauled by a pair of "mastiff-type dogs" in Corstorphine Hill, Edinburgh, on Friday morning.

The 18-week-old pup was rushed to an animal ICU where vets operated on him multiple times and he now faces a long road to recovery, reports the Daily Record.

A friend of Bruno's family, who launched a crowdfunding campaign to cover the cost of his extensive treatment, has slammed the owner of the other two dogs.

Writing on the GoFundMe page, Holly Mccallion said Bruno was "rag dolled" during the attack, adding the owner "is at fault".

"My friend's schnoodle puppy was brutally attacked by two mastiff type dogs up Corstorphine Hill," she wrote.

"They ripped poor Bruno out of her partner's arms and rag dolled him, leaving helpless Bruno fighting for his life.

"The vet bills are adding up. Unfortunately they don't have insurance as she rescued him only last month from his original owner who fell ill and could no longer care for him.

"Nobody is blaming the dogs for this tragic incident as the owner is at fault, for not being able to control his dogs."

Having undergone emergency surgery to save his life, Bruno is thankfully now home but faces a long road to recovery.

The muscles and ligaments on his back leg - the one used to rip him from his owner’s arms - have been “destroyed”, leaving him unable to move it.

He’ll also need to go back under the knife for dental surgery, with the possibility of an internal operations depending on how he heals.

Holly added: "After having a good night's sleep and managing his antibiotics and pain relief, he's feeling a bit more relaxed today in his home.

"I'm just so glad he is back home, even though he has a long recovery ahead of him."

The GoFundMe drive has so far raised over £3,700 of the £5,000 target as friends rallied round Bruno's family.

Alexis Leal said: “What an awful thing to happen! Really hope the wee one feels better soon!”

While Janet Anderson posted: “This is just horrendous, brought me to tears. I pray Bruno recovers and gets to live a long healthy life with his family.”

And Cathie Hutchison wrote: “This wee pup needs all our healing wishes and this cash might help his owners reduce some of the stress.”
