Rescue operation continues for missing man, 23, after boat capsizes in Loch Awe

The search for a missing man has resumed after a boat capsized in Argyll and Bute yesterday.

Police Scotland responded to reports at 4.40pm, alongside Scottish Fire and Rescue, Scottish Ambulance and the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, at attended Loch Awe, Argyll, after reports that a boat with three men on board had capsized.

The two men, aged 23 and 27 years, managed to swim to nearby island where they raised the alarm and were rescued and taken by ambulance to Oban Hospital.

Both men have now been discharged from hospital.

The multi-agency search for another 23-year-old man, which cops say "involves specialist police search teams and the Maritime and Coastguard Agency" resumed this morning.

Police added in their statement: "Enquiries in to the circumstances surrounding the incident are continuing."

Oban mountain rescue team and a search and rescue helicopter based at Inverness have also been involved, according to the PA.
