Rescue launched to save dog trapped in Welsh mineshaft

A rescue operation is underway to save a dog trapped in a north Wales mineshaft, North Wales Live reports. The incident is ongoing near Mold in Flintshire.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and volunteers from the North East Wales Search and Rescue (NEWSAR) team were called to the site in Llanferres earlier this morning. The dog is a cocker spaniel but its condition is not known.

A fire service spokesman told North Wales Live it was informed at 9.40am today that a dog had fallen down a mineshaft in Llanferres. The shaft is understood to be about 30ft deep. The service sent one crew from Mold to the location which is about four miles south west of Mold.
