Rescue centre appeals for hot dog donations to prepare pooch for new home

A rescue centre is appealing for donations to help care for one of its doggy residents, but we’re not talking about the monetary kind.

RSPCA Bury, Oldham and District is appealing for donations of hot dogs, the ones you can buy in a tin.

One of the rescue centre's dogs, the adorable Oscar, is currently being trained by staff so that he is ready to go up for adoption.

He currently has some behaviour issues, meaning his training is essential as he won’t be ready for rehoming until this is dealt with.

The team is currently working on building his confidence and working on his reactivity.

Like many dogs, Oscar responds well to reward-based training, with his particular treat of choice being hot dogs.

Yes, you heard that right.

So now the centre is appealing for members of the public to check their cupboards, or pop some cans in their trolley the next time they go shopping.

You can usually pick up a can of hot dogs for as little as 55p in Tesco. Such a small token could make a big difference to Oscar and will go some way in helping him find a forever home.

And if you don’t have any hot dogs in the cupboard but you have some chicken, ham or liver going spare, the RSPCA say they are sure he’d like these too.

Could you help this adorable dog in his journey to a safe and happy home?
