Republic of Ireland v Denmark predictions: Mirror writers give their view

The Republic of Ireland and Denmark clash in a massive Euro 2020 qualifier on Monday night.

The Boys in Green need a victory to book their place at next summer's tournament, but all will not be lost if they fail to win as they will still have the play-offs.

Jack Byrne and Troy Parrott have both been named in Mick McCarthy's 23-man squad for the game, which gets underway at 7.45pm.

Here's how our writers see the match going:

Robert Hynes: Ireland 0-0 Denmark

I expect this crucial Euro 2020 qualifier to end in a boring 0-0 draw.

This Ireland team is hardly known for their goalscoring and the Danes know a point will be enough for them to book their place at next summer's tournament.

Ireland need to go for it right from the first whistle, but it would be very surprising if they did.

Eamon Doggett: Ireland 1-0 Denmark

Denmark need only a draw at the Aviva but that can create a mindset that Ireland can exploit.

I think Ireland will keep it cagey and tight in the first half before throwing the kitchen sink at the Danes.

It may not be pretty and we may have to rely on the mallet head of Shane Duffy once again, but we can gain revenge.

Alex Dunne: Ireland 0-0 Denmark

Ireland will take to the field tonight, history beckoning at their feet, with rallying calls to produce another famous Landsdowne Road night and "go and have a crack" at these Danes.

If only that was enough - because we can outwork and outshout Denmark, but outplaying them is a different matter entirely.

Age Hareide's men figured out how to deal with us long ago, and come here only needing the dull and drab draw they will surely take away.
