Republic of Ireland slip to 50 in FIFA World rankings as England climb to third

Ireland have slumped to their lowest ranking since 2015 as they lie 50 in the latest FIFA World Rankings.

It was another winless international window for Stephen Kenny's side as they lost to Portugal and played out draws against Azerbaijan and Serbia.

And Ireland's recent form sees them fall to 50th in the World Rankings.

The ranking makes it Ireland's lowest since they were ranked as low as 67th that year.

And the side are three sports behind neighbours Northern Ireland at 47 while Scotland lie 45th.

England have climbed to third in the rankings while Belgium and Brazil make up the one and two spots.

Reigning European Champions Italy sit in fifth while Ireland's World Cup qualifying opponents Portugal are seventh.

Fellow group participants Serbia moved up to 28th while Luxembourg and Azerbaijan are 94th and 117th respectively.
