Republic of Ireland prospect Dan Crowley completes transfer to Birmingham City

Republic of Ireland prospect Dan Crowley is back in English football and on the radar of Mick McCarthy after completing a move to Birmingham City.

The 21-year-old playmaker joins the Championship side after an impressive season that saw him star for Dutch side Willem II - scoring five goals in 35 appearances last season.

The former Arsenal youth star has represented England at U16, U17 and U19's level, but qualifies to play for the Boys in Green through his grandparents.

Crowley has publicly stated his ambition to play for Ireland and attracted the attention of Mick McCarthy this year - the Ireland boss watched his side's loss to European high-flyers Ajax in this year's Dutch Cup final.

And after a successful period in the Netherlands, Crowley looks set to chisel a successful career in England after unsuccessful loan spells at Oxford United and Barnsley while he was an Arsenal player.
