Ireland didn't fire on all cylinders in Helsinki but there were some encouraging performances despite the defeat for Stephen Kenny's men.
Here is a look at how they rated.
Darren Randolph 5 - Handed Finns their winner with a sloppy short kick-out to Doherty that was pounced on.
Matt Doherty 6 - Involved in mix-up that led to Finland’s winner but went close to an equaliser late on
Shane Duffy 6 - Important clearance to deny Taylor in first-half and on his toes with Pukki throughout
Dara O’Shea 7 - Shone on debut with a vital block to deny Niskanen and could do little about the goal.
Enda Stevens 6 - Another attacking display from left-back and hit the crossbar with a looping effort.

Jeff Hendrick 5 - Running on empty after a third start in-a-row and coughed up possession in good positions.
Jayson Molumby 7 - Midfield general demanded the ball and always wanted to play it forward .
Conor Hourihane 5 - Dead balls were reasonable but after three tough games, he struggled to impact
Daryl Horgan 6 - A threat on the right in the first-half, but fizzled out once shifted to the left after the break
Sean Maguire 5 - Handed a rare start after his cameo against Wales but failed to leave his mark
Aaron Connolly 6 - Three decent shots in an energetic display on his return from controversial Slovakia absence.
