Republic of Ireland guaranteed Euro 2020 play-off place

The Republic of Ireland are guaranteed a Euro 2020 play-off place after Saturday night's results.

The Boys in Green could face Northern Ireland in the play-offs after Michael O'Neill's side drew with the Netherlands on Saturday.

Results across Europe tonight mean Mick McCarthy's men can do no worse than the rest of the play-off places.

The Republic face Denmark at the Aviva Stadium in their final group qualifier game on Monday.

Speaking ahead of the match, McCarthy said: “They certainly won't want to lose to us, that's for sure. They don't regard us with enough respect I don't think.

“See when you make all those comments? You have to win then. You have got to win if you dis the opposition and I make a point of never doing it.

“They've said it! And they will not want to lose against us. That would piss them off. I think you should respect your opponent and do your best to beat them.”
