Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Kieran O'Hara charged by FA over alleged bite

Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Kieran O'Hara goalkeeper has been charged by the FA over an alleged bite on an opponent.

The charge, which arose from his side Burton's game at home to Peterborough United, alleges that O'Hara's behaviour during the 44th minute of the game "amounts to violent and/or improper conduct".

O'Hara, who is on loan from Manchester United, has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E3, reports Derbyshire Live.

As the whistle blew for half-time, something appeared to be thrown from the away terrace at O'Hara, who picked up an object and took it to the referee as he left the field.

Since the charge specifies the 44th minute, it appears to relate to something said or done by the goalkeeper before the object was thrown.

Earlier in the half, referee Brett Huxtable had spoken to both O'Hara and Peterborough's Sammy Szmodics before a corner as they jostled for position and the Burton goalkeeper had been subjected to some hostile chanting from the Posh supporters behind his goal after that.

O’Hara has until Friday to respond and the Brewers have confirmed they will contest the charge but have said they will not comment at this stage.
