Republic of Ireland 1 Switzerland 1: Player ratings as Mick McCarthy's men seal late draw against Switzerland

A late David McGoldrick goal sealed a point for Ireland as a late jail break turned into an adrenaline-flowing escape to victory.

In a labouring night for many Ireland players, some were able to display their best in a big game for the Boys in Green.

Here's how the players rated in tonight's 1-1 draw with Switzerland:

Darren Randolph 7 - Always alert and made a big save at his near post to thwart Seferovic late in the first-half.

Seamus Coleman 7 - Hands full shackling Rodriguez but set counter attacks in motion and defended strongly

Richard Keogh 6 - Skin of the teeth stuff at times but his no-nonsense approach was important

Shane Duffy 8 -  Made two crucial blocks in the first half alone and was a pillar of strength. MOTM

Enda Stevens 6 - Picked up a costly booking and will now miss next month’s tricky game in Georgia

Jeff Hendrick 7 - Positive display on his 50th cap and was always looking to drive forward in possession

Glenn Whelan 6 - Busy night trying to spoil and nearly broke the crossbar with a late thunderbolt

Conor Hourihane 6 - Ireland could have done with more set pieces as his deliveries were on the money

Callum Robinson 6 - Always up to mischief but had a knock in the build up and replaced before the hour.

David McGoldrick 8 - Picked a great time to weigh in with his first Ireland goal and also linked the play nicely.

James McClean  7 -  Forced to defend for long spells but left every ounce of energy out there for the cause.

IRELAND SUBS:

Alan Judge for Robinson (57 mins) - 6
Scott Hogan for Hourihane (82 mins) - 5
Alan Browne for McGoldrick (90 mins) - 5

SWITZERLAND: Sommer; Elvedi, Akanji, Schar; Mbabu (Fernandes 90), Zakaria, Xhaka, Rodriguez; Embolo (Ajeti 86), Freuler (Mehmedi 90); Seferovic.

Referee: Carlos del Cerro Grande (Spain)
