Zinedine Zidane will return to be coach of Real Madrid

Real Madrid have found their man.

It’s reportedly their old man. The coach who was actually good for them: Zinedine Zidane.

According to a report from La Sexta and seconded by COPE, the former French international will replace Santiago Solari as the Real Madrid manager in an announcement that could come as soon as today.

UPDATE: Real Madrid have made the announcement official.

It’s a stunning turnaround for the Spanish club who have struggled since the departure of Zidane. Well, not exactly struggled, but not finished with the results that the club has come to expect.

Real Madrid is currently third in La Liga, 12 points behind Barcelona and five points behind cross-city rivals Atletico Madrid. The Madridistas were also bounced from the Champions League after losing in stunning fashion to Dutch side Ajax.

Zidane will return to the team he led to three consecutive Champions League titles, and for the Real Madrid brass, at least eliminate one variable when it comes to trying to identify what has gone wrong for the club.

That being said, this will be no easy task for Zidane, who will be taking over a roster that has struggled to find its identity, and goals, since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Italian side Juventus.
