Saints promote former Grambling QB D.J. Williams to full-time staff role

The New Orleans Saints added an offensive quality control coach, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. D.J. Williams will join head coach Sean Payton’s staff as an assistant working with quarterbacks. Williams is a former quarterback himself, having suited up for nearby Grambling State, and has strong NFL bloodlines — his father, Doug Williams, won Super Bowl XXII for Washington and works for the team as its senior vice president of player personnel.

According to a report from Josh Katzenstein of the Times-Picayune, Williams was on the Saints staff in a part-time role during the 2018 season in a similar capacity.

New Orleans had a spot open up among their assistants on the offensive side of the ball after Joe Brady took a job with LSU, coordinating the passing game and coaching wide receivers in Death Valley. The pipeline between the Saints and local programs seems to be picking up momentum.
