Reports of shots fired at house in Ballyfermot, west Dublin

Shots were fired at a home in west Dublin on Thursday evening.

It's reported that a number of shots were fired at a property near Oranmore Road in Ballyfermot.

Pictures show up to four Garda vans arriving to the scene as they react to the shooting.

"Gardai are currently en route to a report of shots fired at a house in Ballyfermot," a spokesperson told Dublin Live last night.

Earlier this week, Ballyfermot residents were forced to evacuate from their homes in the dead of night as Gardai dealt with a suspected pipe bomb.

What to do in an emergency situation

Throngs of armed Gardai and patrol cars flooded Ballyfermot from the late hours of Monday night into the early hours of this morning.

The Thomond Road area was sealed off as the Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit spent several hours on site trying to safely deal with the incident.

Footage obtained by Dublin Live shows flashing blue lights illuminating the west Dublin sky as the army carried out a controlled explosion of the device feared to be a pipe bomb.
