Reports of radical plan emerge as Nottingham Forest 'could be forced to sell' duo

Transfer talk

Nottingham Forest could be forced to sell defensive duo Matty Cash and Joe Worrall if they fail to get promoted, according to a report.

The pair have attracted top-flight interest in the past, while Cash was also on the radar of Italian giants AC Milan in January.

And Football Insider claim the Reds face “having to cash in on the star duo this summer to raise revenues slashed by the coronavirus pandemic”.

Cash and Worrall have been in outstanding form for Sabri Lamouchi’s side this season, playing key roles in a back line which has helped Forest climb to fifth in the Championship table.

Radical plan

A radical plan has emerged that would regionalise the Championship next season to cut down on travel and accommodation for clubs following the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

With football’s finances being hit hard, the radical proposal would see each of the three divisions below the Premier League - the Championship, League One and League Two - divided into north and south sections.

It would see Nottingham Forest put into a northern Championship division, away from the likes of West Brom, Fulham and Brentford.

Instead, Sabri Lamouchi 's side would play in a truncated division, which would see them play teams no further south than local rivals Derby County.

Big gesture

Nottingham Forest will donate 10,000 meals to local NHS staff working on the front line during the coronavirus crisis.

The Reds’ chefs have volunteered to cook and prepare the meals at the City Ground - at a rate of 2,000 per week.

They will then be collected by newly-formed local charity Open Kitchens and distributed to NHS staff.

The club say they are “committed to helping those in need” and working alongside Open Kitchens means they can “directly help those on the front line in the hospitals who are risking their lives every day”.

Confident mood

Nottingham Forest stars Matty Cash and Michael Dawson are convinced the club are on the brink of something special this season.

The Reds’ pair are currently keeping themselves as fit as they can, itching to get back to action once the football lockdown is eased and the season, along with life, gets back to normal.

As it stands it’s hoped that clubs will be able to resume training sometime next month with a view to completing the end of the season, beginning sometime in June.

Sabri Lamouchi's Forest currently sit in fifth place in the Championship, perfectly poised for a play-off finish.
