Reports of knifeman shot by police in Paris suburb after several stabbed

A knifeman has reportedly been shot by police after stabbing several people in a Paris suburb.

French media is reporting that the incident happened near a supermarket in Villejuif, in the south of the capital, at around 2pm.

It has also been reported that the suspect was wearing a suicide vest and at least three shots were fire, the Mirror reports.

According to the BBC, four people are reported to have been stabbed and one person is believed to have been seriously injured.

Two police officers are believed to be among those injured in the incident.

The suspect's condition is not known but initial reports suggest he has died.

Paris' police prefecture tweeted: "Parc des Hauts de Bruyères. Ongoing intervention by the police. Avoid the area."
