Reports of ground 'vibrating' and 'shaking chairs' in south Bristol

A Bedminster resident has claimed that the ground in the Bristol area was "vibrating" this evening.

The resident, who says they live on Coronation Road, claimed the ground under their feet was shaking for at least an hour tonight (December 21).

The vibration is strong enough to make chairs and the floor visibly shake, according to the report.

There is also reportedly a "hum" accompanying the incident. He said that the noise was "of no importance" but that the sight of chairs vibrating of their own accord was "dramatic".

He said: "We live on Coronation Road in Bedminster and for the last hour at least the ground has been vibrating.

"Yes, there is a hum but a noise is of no importance.

"The clear vibration of the chairs we sit in, the floor we stand on, it's quite dramatic. Come to Bedminster and feel it."

This is not the first unexplained disturbance to hit the Bristol region in recent days.

Earlier this month, residents of Weston-super-Mare reported hearing a so-called "skyquake" amid Storm Barra hitting the country.

Residents who felt that shake occur said their houses "vibrated" amid a a "weird long rumbling noise" heard across the area on the night of December 7.
