Reports man had a gun in Liverpool house lead to police shutting down street

A road was cordoned off by police amid reports a man had a gun in a house.

Witnesses said there were "armed police everywhere" as officers descended on Warbreck Moor this morning.

Police today confirmed they were called just after 11am to a "concern for safety" for a man who reportedly had a gun inside the house in Warbreck Moor .

One concerned resident said: "The police have blocked it all off and won’t let people even walk up the road.

"There is a fella with a gun having a standoff with the police."

She added that the road was blocked off, which saw one parent unable to access a nearby nursery.

Pictures show armed police in the street.

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said the man was "safe and well" and there are no reports a weapon was found.

She added "It was a concern for safety of a man in the property who was having a mental health episode. The male is safe and well.

"Initial reports suggested there was a firearm in the house and police have attended."
