Reports indicate Rockets have considered shopping Clint Capela

While the Houston Rockets may or may not be done clearing out their coaching staff, it appears they are far from finished making adjustments to the team. But the focus has shifted elsewhere.

Now, Houston is revisiting its roster.

According to a report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Wednesday, the only player who appears to be safe is All-NBA selection and 2018-19 MVP candidate James Harden.

That means Chris Paul could be available for trade. Clint Capela, who already has been discussed as a tradable piece, may be on the move as well.

Stefano Fusaro of ESPN reported on Wednesday the Rockets front office has mentioned the big man in conversations, while Marc Stein of the New York Times reports Houston is seeing what the market looks like for Capela if he was made available.

Capela is currently under contract through the 2022-23 season and he is owed slightly more than $76.2 million of the original $90 million base salary he was signed for by the Rockets. The 25-year-old being locked up at a reasonable cost for four years makes him a valuable asset for any roster.

Capela averaged a double-double over the last two years — 15.2 points and 11.7 rebounds per game — and also made 65 percent of the 10 shots he averaged per game. He’s a fit on any team looking to add a post presence that doesn’t stretch the floor.
