Reports: Broncos had interest in Malik Jackson, Adam Humphries

After defensive lineman Malik Jackson was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Denver Broncos “placed a call” (presumably to his agent), according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis.

Denver ultimately decided that a reunion wouldn’t work out and Jackson signed a three-year, $30 million contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. Jackson started his career with the Broncos and was a key part of the team’s victory over the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50.

Denver also showed interest in wide receiver Adam Humphries, according to The Athletic’s Nicki Jhabvala. Other teams were “more aggressive” than the Broncos, according to Jhabvala, and Humphries landed a four-year, $36 million contract with the Tennesee Titans.

After deciding against signing Jackson and Humphries, Denver has not (yet) signed a wide receiver or defensive lineman. The Broncos have agreed to terms with defensive back Kareem Jackson and right tackle Ja’Wuan James. Those two deals will become official on Wednesday.

It’s probably safe to assume that Denver will continue looking at wide receivers and defensive lineman this offseason.
