The Nets continued to potentially stockpile young talent _ especially in the backcourt _ by reportedly signing restricted free-agent guard Allen Crabbe to an offer sheet on Thursday night.
The Vertical first reported the deal and other media outlets confirmed it. The deal is reportedly for four years and $75 million.
The Trail Blazers have three full days to match the offer or allow Crabbe to leave for Brooklyn.
Crabbe, a 6-6 shooting guard, was taken in the second round (31st overall pick) by the Cavaliers in the 2013 draft. But he has spent the first three years of his career with the Trail Blazers. Crabbe, 24, had his best season this past year, appearing in 81 games, including eight starts, and averaging 10.3 points for Portland.
The Nets also reportedly signed guard Tyler Johnson to a four-year, $50 million offer sheet on Thursday when the NBA's moratorium ended. The Heat also have three full days to match the Nets' offer to Johnson, 24. He averaged 8.7 points in 36 games, including five starts, for the Heat this past season.
New Nets general manager Sean Marks has been aggressive this summer. He also traded power forward Thaddeus Young to the Pacers and acquired 6-7 shooting guard Caris LaVert, who is 21 and was the 20th overall pick in last month's draft. Marks also signed veteran guard Jeremy Lin and acquired 6-5 guard Isaiah Whitehead in a draft night trade with the Utah Jazz. Whitehead, 21, played at Seton Hall.
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, 21, also is a promising player for the Nets. Hollis-Jefferson, a 6-7 shooting guard/forward, was acquired by the Nets during last year's draft.
