Reported Sunderland target doesn't rule out leaving Livingston this summer

Reported Sunderland target Lyndon Dykes refused to rule out the possibility of leaving Livingston this summer.

The 24-year-old Australian striker netted 12 goals for Livingston this season and became the first-ever in the club's history to net a Scottish Premier League hat-trick.

But his fine season is thought to have alerted the Old Firm rivals, as well as Sunderland. Livingston are said to want £2million for him.

And when asked about a move to Rangers specifically, Dykes did not rule out the possibility of leaving Livingston this summer.

He told PZ Soccer: "I back myself 100%, and if I did happen to go anywhere I would do the best I can.

"I would learn off the players they have, the manager and once I got in that environment, I’d put my head down and work hard to be that striker that the club needs."

Dykes has two years remaining on his current deal at Almondvale, and the price tag reportedly placed on him could be a stumbling block for Sunderland.

It could also prove problematic for Rangers too, with Celtic legend Frank McAvennie the Ibrox giants would stump up that sort of money. As for Celtic, he believes their striker options are too strong to warrant their need to move for him.

McAvennie told Football Insider: "Dykes has caused problems for the Rangers and Celtic defence.

"A good player but he will cost a lot of money. I do not know if Rangers could afford him.

How Sunderland’s position in the football pyramid has changed

"He will not go to Celtic because they have two very good strikers in [Odsonne] Edouard and [Leigh] Griffiths.

"Dykes would not want to go there and play third fiddle because Edouard and Griffiths are not going anywhere.

"It would need to be Rangers and he would be too much money for them."
