Reported Nottingham Forest target 'willing to consider' big money move abroad

Reported Nottingham Forest target Dwight Gayle has been linked with a big money move to China.

The Reds were said to be keen on the Newcastle United front man in the summer, and reports have suggested they could reignite their interest when the January transfer window opens.

West Bromwich Albion, where Gayle had a successful loan spell last season, are also said to be eyeing up the striker again.

But, according to the Sunday People, a move to the Chinese Super League could be a possibility, with Gayle and teammate Jonjo Shelvey ‘willing to consider’ a switch to the Far East.

Gayle, in particular, has struggled for game time at St James’ Park this term, making just two appearances under Steve Bruce.

Both of those came as a substitute in recent weeks, coming off the bench against Chelsea and Wolves in the Premier League.

That is in contrast to 2018/19, when he racked up 24 goals in 41 games for the Baggies as they made it to the Championship play-offs.

His future is said to be uncertain in the north east, ahead of his contract coming to an end in 2021.

But Magpies boss Bruce has previously said he will get his chance.

"What happened last year or the past, I am not really interested in when it comes to Dwight," he said.

"The thing for Dwight is that whatever number he has on his back he's got the ability to score goals.

"I am delighted that he's around us because he is a very, very good player.”
