In-demand Nottingham Forest “target” Lawrence Shankland has another suitor to add to his list.
Dundee United have confirmed they have made an offer to the free agent striker, who has already been linked with the Reds, Hull City, Sunderland, Swansea City, Celtic and Rangers.
Shankland reportedly has his pick of clubs to choose from after his contract at Ayr United came to an end.
The 23-year-old enjoyed a prolific season in the Scottish Championship, bagging 34 goals in 41 appearances, attracting plenty of attention as a result.
And now Dundee are the latest to show their hand, launching what has been described as an “ambitious bid” in an attempt to beat off interest from elsewhere.

“We are in talks with Shankland’s representatives and we have made an offer to come to Dundee United,” sporting director Tony Asghar is quoted in the Scottish Sun.
“We see Lawrence as a top player and we want him to be part of our Championship challenge and beyond.
“We know Lawrence is very much a player in demand and has a lot of offers elsewhere and we are hopeful things will come to a conclusion either way, very quickly.”
Dundee are said to have tried to sign Shankland last summer but couldn’t agree a fee.
