Reported Marcelo Bielsa successor at Leeds United could take over from Jose Mourinho at Tottenham

With still no news over whether Marcelo Bielsa will sign a new contract at Leeds United, there has been plenty of speculation over who could be the Argentine's successor at Elland Road.

Bielsa is coming to the end of his current contract at the Whites, due to his preference of operating on one-year deals.

While the Whites have made no secret of their desire to keep Bielsa at Elland Road, Andrea Radrizzani and co. are also understood to be making contingency plans should the 65-year-old opt to leave Leeds.

A number of names have been floated as potential replacements for Bielsa, such as Rangers' Steven Gerrard and Sporting CP's Ruben Amorim.

While both of these young managers have achieved success in their short careers so far, neither carries the weight of experience of a third name that has been suggested - Massimiliano Allegri.

Reports last week linked Leeds with an approach for Allegri, who is interested in working in the Premier League having been out of work since leaving Juventus in May 2019.

During his five-year stint at Juve, Allegri achieved five straight Serie A titles, also winning four Coppa Italias.

Luring such a big name to Elland Road would be no mean feat and represent a similar sort of coup to when Bielsa took over in the Championship.

Yet 90min report that Allegri is said to have intimated that he would be interested in taking charge of one of Leeds' Premier League rivals - Tottenham Hotspur.

After an embarrassing exit in the Europa League in midweek, Jose Mourinho's future as Spurs boss appears to be up in the air, with the Portuguese manager coming in for criticism due to his style of football and inconsistent results.

Should Spurs opt to part company with the 58-year-old, then Allegri is said to be open to an approach.

With Bielsa's future still having some question marks over it, it remains to be seen whether Allegri's availability will impact Leeds United.
