Reported details of Teddy Bridgewater’s Lions deal leak out

While the Detroit Lions still have not officially signed free agent QB Teddy Bridgewater, the deal is all but done. And thanks to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, we now have a good idea of what the deal is going to look like for the veteran backup QB.

On Wednesday night, Schefter reported on social media that Bridgewater’s deal in Detroit will be for one year and a base of $2.5 million guaranteed. The report indicates that Bridgewater could earn up to $5 million. Again, the deal still is not signed; head coach Dan Campbell indicated earlier this week that the deal is not likely to happen before next week.

It’s a step back on the salary front for Bridgewater, who earned $6.5 million in Miami in 2022 to back up QB Tua Tagovailoa. Per Spotrac, Bridgewater has earned over $62 million in his NFL career, which began as a first-round pick by the Vikings back in 2014.
