Reported active shooter situation in Loop was just a drill: police

Police responded to reports of an active shooter at a building in the Loop Thursday that turned out to be a drill.

Authorities were called shortly after 1 p.m. for reports of an active shooter inside a building in the 200 block of West Randolph Street, according to Chicago police.

Officers arrived and learned that the incident was actually “an active shooter drill that was not communicated with everyone within the building,” police said. Police were also not notified about the drill ahead of time.

Building administrators are requesting anyone still actively seeking shelter to please “exit the building,” police said.

Calls of an Active Shooter are NOT bona fide at 225 W. Randolph. This incident was a DRILL that was not properly communicated. No reports of injuries. No active shooter threat.
